It's never too late to start doing good.
join warby parker, patagonia, and etsy in creating a better world by converting your existing entity to a benefit corporation.
How much does a conversion cost?
If you have an existing corporation or LLC, you can convert that entity into a benefit corporation. The exact process for the conversion will depend on a number of factors, namely: the type of entity you currently have, the state of formation of that entity, and the desired formation state of the benefit corporation.
The cost may vary depending on the factors mentioned above, but you should expect to spend anywhere from $3,000 to $4,500 to complete a conversion. I can likely provide you with a flat-fee cost after a brief consultation.
Conversions generally cost a bit more than standard formations because in addition to preparing the formation paperwork, we'll also need to draft documentation of the change in entity type (for example, member approvals for an LLC) and file conversion paperwork (along with an associated fee) with the state in which your entity is currently formed. To make sure I get everything papered the right way, I'll need to review your current formation documents.
